Contains photographs of the following military units: 7th U.S. Cavalry Regiment; 5th U.S. Cavalry Regiment; 9th U.S. Cavalry Regiment. General description of the collection: The Mrs. John C. Tuten photograph collection consists of photographs of several members of the 7th United States (U.S.) Cavalry and others who were in Chicago, Illinois, in 1879 during the Reno Court of Inquiry. Several other photos are of famous Indian chiefs and some of unidentified Indians. There is also a photo of "Buffalo Bill" Cody, several Civil War officers (Marcus Reno being one of them), and several of Mr. Lyman D. Gilbert whose descendents donated this collection. There is some family connection between the Gilberts and Marcus Reno.
